Shun Li And The Poet

After working in a textile factory on the outskirts of Rome, Shun Li, a young Chinese immigrant, is transferred to the small town of Chioggia. She works as a bartender in a tavern, and befriends, and falls a little in love with Bepi "the Poet", an older fisherman of Slavic origin. The friendship turns difficult. Bepi's Italian friends turn on him, and Shun Li's Chinese employers order her to "stop it." Relying more to poetry than to reality, the two friends try to save each other. It will be a dream-like salvation, made possible by the charm of a place, Chioggia, the lagoon and the high Adriatic.
